I had no reason, I wasn't protesting anything. No one pissed me off or anything like that. I just decided to take a break from Facebook and Twitter for a while. Don't even think of asking why, I just don't know. It had all gotten just a little too silly and redundant for me. All of the "Apps" on Facebook were annoying. All the pointless tweets on Twitter were almost mind numbing. So I just decided to take a break. Am I saying I'll never use these sites again, hecks no! But who knows, maybe after a break, I'll improve the ways that I use them both. For now they both seem so pointless.

I remember during the campaign season last fall, Twitter was the center of my life! To me it seemed as if the national debate was being wagged in the form of tweets every night. After every debate, and every news show, there were millions of opinions flowing between myself and my fellow "tweeps". And even during the inauguration of President Obama, we shared so much that we crashed the site, and brought on the infamous "Fail Whale" all weekend long. But the excitement has since subsided, and all we seem to tweet about is Rihanna's goodies.

Ok, i'll get off my sop box (because I know I was looking at the Rihanna pix too...). Maybe I'll take this time to start blogging again. It is something that I've been neglecting over the past few years. I know, I know... It's so old school, so 2003! You might be right, but at least it was a little something more to it. Web 2.0 seems to be turning our brains to mush even quicker than TV, and that's saying something!

The "System" Works!

What the deal fam? I know yall are probably wondering what I'm talking about when I say the system works. Is he talking about Government? Since I started, I've lost 15 lbs. Now I know some of yall are gonna be thinking "that's not a lot, why is he so happy?!" The answer is simple, I've only been on it for 15 days. That's a pound a day, not bad right?

With that being said, I have to be honest, there are down sides. First off, the price. It is a little expensive. All and all, I've spent about $400 total on the pre packaged food itself, plus the needed groceries that I had to buy. Oh yeah, don't get it twisted. You will still have to make those dreaded trips to the grocery store for all the things that can't be vacuumed packed, so be ready for that. The last bad point to me is the taste. Don't get me wrong, most of the meals, about 80% are great! The other 20% are just horrible. But the good side to that is you can custom order your meals for the month, so after the first month, you know what to get and what not to get.

All and all I'd have to say it's worth it. If you're like me, and have over 30 lbs to lose, it might be worth your time. As for the cost, that's up to the individual. To me, it's worth the money because I'm dropping pounds, I feel good, and I'm not spending tons of money of fast food at work everyday like I use to. So all you folks that are sick of fad diets, and the latest "detox", give them a try. If you only have a few pounds to drop, don't bother.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://likwidlogic.blogspot.com/2009/04/works.html' title='The "System" "Is that book any good, or is it all hype" one beautiful sistah says to the other. "Girl he ain't said nothing I ain't heard before!" was the reply she got from the older women. I shook my head and laughed, who the hell made Steve the authority on all Black male thought anyway?! I mean seriously! Some folks will take this the wrong way, they'll say I'm hating on Harvey, or I'm just mad he's giving away all our secrests (lmao @ that one!). The truth of the matter is I just don't know what it is about some women who want to figure us all out. I stop trying to figure Black women out a long time ago. The main reason for that is because I realized that there was no collective "Black Woman" to figure out. Each woman is her own individual. It's just not smart to try to figure out an entire goup of people. You're only going to be with one of them at a time right? Well, maybe a few at a time for all those playas out there, but still no need to figure it all out. Sistahs need to come to the same realization. There is no collective "Brotha" to figure out. We're all our own individuals just like y'all are.

See, I have a theory about why we keep buying relationship books, and going to the latest "mama why'd I get married to a convicted fellon who's somehow fits every sterotype for black men that I've ever heard" play. It's because we're trying to come up with a quick fix. We're all looking for the perfect relationship from the jump. But instead of giving it time, we're looking to find the answers right now instead of being patient. The answers to all our relationships aren't coded into plays, and overhyped books. The answers to our relationship problems are right in front of us. They're in the person that we are dating, and alot of time they're right in the mirror. But for some strange reason we just don't want to put in the work required to maintain a good relationship. Maybe it's a by-product of the "microwave generation" wanting everything right now, who knows. All I'm saying is pay attention to the one you're with. Somehow, someway they'll tell you everything you need to know to figure them out. The only question then will be are you listening.

-- Post From My iPhone

Some Other Ish

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 209px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_UwWK6LwSmFk/ScMI6gyALJI/AAAAAAAAADY/wZY_TiLg5i4/s320/Sy-Smith_jJhEUwt3pdIx_full.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5315101786552413330" />
Ok, here's my attempt to start posting blogs again. I figured I'd start it off with a little Friday groove for everyone. This is for all the people who are as sick as I am of the radio. Nothing good on there at all anymore, so I guess we'll just have to get our good music from the internets. So play this one while at work, and hopefully it will help you get through the day. The truth of the matter is I have no clue. I use to be all into it, but now it just seems like too much effort. Maybe it's because I haven't done anything remotley interesting in the past few years. Hell, looking back on things it not hard to see why that wouldn't be the truth. Maybe if I live a little more I'll have something to blog about. Maybe it's because I thought my blog needed a them like music or technology. Maybe I just lik expressing myself in 140 charecters or less on Twitter. Whatever the case, I'm gonna try to to do it more. Lord knows I need an outlet these days. Stay tuned, there's more to come ...for real this time.

-- Post From My iPhone

Modern Christmas Classic

Well it's that time of the year for all our holiday favorites to surface and run their course. For me there's "Let It Snow" by Boyz II Men. "Silent Night" by the Temps (Temptations for all you youngsters), and "Christmas Time" By Vanessa Williams and the Harlem Boys Choir, my favorite. But in recent years a new classic has emerged as a must at this festive time of year. I't not to be taken serious at all, and if the content offends you, I'm sorry. Ladies and gentlemen I give you, Dick In A Box.<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v11.nonxt1.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dc81590c9aa51efae%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330105243%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D27522329B95859DBCF7067569E013AF9C6731137.219AEEF05152C560ACC92AD9777139A0D3A05A27%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dc81590c9aa51efae%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DLkVi1sXXOo0ZUdU9tOmB_Xtd-jo&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

And One Month Later...

So it's been over a month since I registered a blog entry. And In this day and age, missing a month of blogging is like missing history take place right in front of you. So let's look at some of the things I would have blogged about During the month of November if I had the time:

- the US slides further into recession and the total for the Government bailouts totals almost $8.5 Trillion. (and counting!)

- The "Big 3" auto makers are on the verge of total collapse due to a lack of buyers and accessible credit.

- The American economy lost 533,000 jobs in one month! worst monthly job loss in 34 years.

- The US makes history by electing the first minority, of any race, to be President of the United States. This hasn't been done in any Western nation by the way, not just America.

And on a personal note:

- I'm trying to end a personal arrangement that's caused me time, money, and a lot of women.

- I'm ending a relationship that I wasn't really in in the first place (long story) and trying to move on and cut ties.

- I enjoyed a great Thanksgiving Weekend with family in NC. A break that was much needed.

So that's it for Nov. Maybe I can be a little more on the ball with this blog for December. Stay tuned.

WTF! After purchasing a netbook myself I can see what some of the advantages and disadvantages are. Definitely more advantages to me, and these things were made for "cloud computing". What am I gonna do on the 5th on Nov? I say this because I've been noticing the past few days just how much I watch the political coverage on the cable news networks. It's not really a recent development, but I've been watching this coverage just about everyday for the better part of the past 18 months. And I know I'm not alone. Other folks that I've talked to about this have said the same thing. I'm just wondering why that is. Is it all about Obama? Is it the political stakes are so high for this election? Like I said before, the new incoming president will have the worst inheritable situation that any incoming president has ever faced. Is it history? Are we all watching just to see if America will actually vote for a black man? Are we waiting for the train wreck? I don't know about most of yall, but I'm still waiting for the RNC to pull some illegitimate white baby from out of no where and say it's Obama's. Not saying he did it, but I know they'll try. Are me and my friends alone in this or are others thinking the same thing too?

New Toy Alert: Acer Aspire One

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_UwWK6LwSmFk/SO6jYcsVGDI/AAAAAAAAACA/F_iDZiXJ4iw/s320/acer_one_1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5255317455602260018" />

I had to! It was only $99! (kinda). I did have to sign up for Vonage for a year, but I was looking at getting a home phone anyway. Besides, I need a fax machine. Anyway, back to the computer. So far I'm loving this thing. It's light, compact, stylish, and made for blogging on the go. It packs a little punch too! 120GB hard drive, Win XP, and even a webcam. This makes it the perfect companion to my not so portable 20" iMac. But as always, there is a downside that brings this lovefest to an end. The most notable thing is the battery life. It SUCK! I only get about 2 1/2 hours. I can by another one but it would cost about $120. That's over 1/3 the original cost. A little too steep but it might be a requirement. Another problem it has is the keyboard is extremely compact. Of course it would be considering this thing is only about 10" wide. And the most annoying thing is the trackpad. i know Acer was trying to be innovative, but placing the buttons on either side instead of at the bottom of the trackpad was a mistake to say the least. But honestly I've gotten use to it over time, so it's not a deal breaker. All in al, I'd give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. But since Microcenter was running a deal to get it for $100 when you sign up for a year of Vonage, I had to get on it. So if you're looking for a netbook to take on the go or just add another computer to your house, this is not a bad pick. Especially when you consider the price.

Obama To Go

In this election, the candidate with the best ground game is gonna win. By ground game I mean the best organization of staffers and part time workers willing to go the extra mile for their guy. Barack Obama is leading in that catagory by a long shot. He has the youth workers, the community organizers, the unions, and by far, the web. Well now it looks like he has the iPhone too! Wha? Sound goofey huh? I just downloaded the Obama app for the iPhone and I'm sure you'll agree, he has the high tech sector on lock! But you be the judge and check the app out on iTunes and see for yourself. I'm more than possitive that you'll be impressed too. It offers everything you need to get involved with the movement. It even gives a direct link to your address book and tracks weather or not you called and talked to your friends about Obama. So don't just use your iPhone for playing Super Monkeyball, or listening to your Ne-Yo album. Use it to change America.

-- Post From My iPhone

The Great Schlep: Will It Work?

I was watching CNN and saw an interesting segment about what comedian Sarah Silverman is doing to get out the elderly Jewish vote in Florida this election year. You know, just catching my breath before the Monday news blitz that's sure to follow after the debate on Friday. But then I came across this clip and it got me to thinking again; Is McBush really trying to sale us on the fact that Sarah Palin is ready to be a heartbeat away from taking a 72 year old man's place as the most powerful person on Earth? It's scary... Even some conservatives are asking her to step down. My take is she's out after the debate Thursday where I'm expecting Joe Biden to destroy her within the first half hour or so. that's when the Republican party will realize that it's time to cut their losses and look toward 2012. But it might be that same thinking that keeps them behind her even after the debate because they don't want to give up on the next 4 years. Who knows what's gonna happen? Only time will tell. Anyway, enjoy the clip, I know I did.

Feelin' That Ol' School

Don't ask me why, I can't explain it myself. id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5250101103692349666" />
When people look back and see what brought on the great market crash of 2008, they'll see that politics was the answer. The reason I say this is because the Mother of All Bailouts might not pass Congress. I know that most people are sick of hearing about this, but it's really important so I'm gonna speak on it. Now the reason it won't pass is simple, it's no longer in the hands of economist and banking officials. No my friends, that phase is done. Instead it's now in the hands of a few hundred people who until a week or so ago, were all set to leave Washington on Friday to kick their re-election bids into high gear. That's right folks, Congress will be the death of us all! And when you add the fact that one of the presidential candidates has decided to play a dangerous game of political showmanship with our economic future, it only worsens the situation.

Today John McCain, and Barack Obama were called back to DC to participate in a meeting that was suppose to help push Congress toward a consensus on the bailout bill. Instead it turned out to be and hour long photo-op and most of the legislative members who were there left the meeting more divided than when they came. Now it's nothing new for members of Congress to disagree with one another, so I'm not really talking about that too much. However, what I did want to bring up was the need for this high powered meeting in the first place. The answer is there was no real reason for it. You can tell this by the length of the meeting. Did Bush really think that the people in that room would somehow fix all that ails this nations economy in one hour long meeting? Of course not, but I'm sure that he and other Republican leaders thought that it would be a great opportunity for McCain to look like a take charge kinda guy. Please!! That Meeting was all about showmanship. But now McCain is in a tough spot. He has to decide weather or not to side with this bill when many conservative GOP members are not ready to sign on. If he can't get members of his own party to go along with it, how is he gonna get Russia to go along with Missile Defense? And since he made it seem like the legislative branch of our government can't function without him, all eyes are now on him. Your move Senator.

Now I hope the fact that there's no deal on the bailout won't spark a sale-off on the market tomorrow. The last thing we need is a crash on a friday that would give way to a crash in world markets over the weekend. We all know that the market's current behavior is based on speculation and rumors about this bill. Any word that it won't pass won't be good at all. But if the get something passed by Monday, we might be able to see a rebound. who knows where this thing is going from here. I guess we should Pray for the best but prepare for the worse.

<img width='1' height='1' so he would sound like a leader, and after that I started wondering: WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THIS!! I mean really, what is going on with our government? I understand the need for this $700B bail out, I really do. But why is it needed by Friday? Bear Sterns Fails almost 6 months ago and no one did a thing. Even then there was talk of other investment banks failing as well and still nothing was done. You would think there would have been a few people who got together and come up with some sort of fix, or at least start talking about a fix. Nothing! Everyone goes about the norm with the mindset that "they brought it on themselves". Not one hearing on Capitol Hill, not one bipartisan panel to look into this or anything. Just a Government bail out for Bear Sterns that we didn't think much of. Then IndyMac blows up, one of the largest mortgage lenders in America. The Fed takes it over, and again we all go about our daily lives. Again, no one inside the Beltway says anything. I guess they thought that everything was cool. It might hurt a few people a little, but it's just a "market correction" and we'd all be high rolling again in a few months. Last week, some of the most prestigious names on Wall St go down, in flames. Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG, a small crash follows and here we are. With all the PhD's and MBA's and big brains in the finical sector, not one person who could do anything about this saw it coming? Really?!?

Now that all of this has gone down, I guess the government decides now is the time to act, but why in one week? The Bush Administration writes a 3 page letter asking Congress for $700,000,000,000 and expects it to pass through both chambers of Congress in one week? I mean 3 pages! That's all they thought it would take?!? Maybe it's just me, but I'm guessing 3 pages can't even begin to explain what to do with that kind of money. I tell you, I just don't know what to say. I find myself shaking my head in amazement and wonder throughout the day just thinking about this. All of a sudden after this market turmoil going on for the better part of this year I find it hard to believe that this is do or die time. At first I was thinking it wasn't needed overnight, but now that the bailout has been so over hyped, not passing the bill would lead to a crash. It would become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and I'm one of the believers that not passing it would lead to Great Depression II. With that said it has to pass, I just hope it has the proper oversight, accountability, and CEO compensation caps that many Americans are looking for. I just hope that Congress and the Administration get it right this time. But given Washington's recent track record on effectiveness and competence, May God help us all!!
