Now That's A McBush Ad

I was doing some browsing on youtube and came across this ad. Now it's not one for fancy production like McCain's adds. But it points out a very important fact: McCain knows jack about the economy.

Monday Morning Mixup

I was in online Saturday night sipping beer and avoiding the rain, and I came up with this playlist. It's a look back on some of the best R&B from the 80's and 90's. Turn it up and get ya jam on at work. Hopefully it helps get you through the day. I hope you enjoy listening as much as i enjoyed making it.

Palin On The Ropes

So i was taking a brake from all the politics of the presidential campaign and economic bailout talk. You know, just catching my breath before the Monday news blitz that's sure to follow after the debate on Friday. But then I came across this clip and it got me to thinking again; Is McBush really trying to sale us on the fact that Sarah Palin is ready to be a heartbeat away from taking a 72 year old man's place as the most powerful person on Earth? It's scary... Even some conservatives are asking her to step down. My take is she's out after the debate Thursday where I'm expecting Joe Biden to destroy her within the first half hour or so. that's when the Republican party will realize that it's time to cut their losses and look toward 2012. But it might be that same thinking that keeps them behind her even after the debate because they don't want to give up on the next 4 years. Who knows what's gonna happen? Only time will tell. Anyway, enjoy the clip, I know I did.

Feelin' That Ol' School

Don't ask me why, I can't explain it myself. Maybe it's me wishing i was in elementary school again. I'd do anything to be obligated only to homework, chores, and watching Transformers at this stage in life. Maybe a brotha is just missing good old New Jack Swing, who knows... The bottom line is this damn song has been in my head all day and now that I found the video, I've decided to share it all with you. Happy Old Schooling!

Ok ok....

So I guess I'm easily entertained.  But you have to admit, no matter how many times you see these folks jump out of their skin, it's still funny as hell.

Is This Leadership?

When people look back and see what brought on the great market crash of 2008, they'll see that politics was the answer.  The reason I say this is because the Mother of All Bailouts might not pass Congress.  I know that most people are sick of hearing about this, but it's really important so I'm gonna speak on it.  Now the reason it won't pass is simple, it's no longer in the hands of economist and banking officials.  No my friends, that phase is done.  Instead it's now in the hands of a few hundred people who until a week or so ago, were all set to leave Washington on Friday to kick their re-election bids into high gear.  That's right folks, Congress will be the death of us all!  And when you add the fact that one of the presidential candidates has decided to play a dangerous game of political showmanship with our economic future, it only worsens the situation.

Today John McCain, and Barack Obama were called back to DC to participate in a meeting that was suppose to help push Congress toward a consensus on the bailout bill.  Instead it turned out to be and hour long photo-op and most of the legislative members who were there left the meeting more divided than when they came.  Now it's nothing new for members of Congress to disagree with one another, so I'm not really talking about that too much.  However, what I did want to bring up was the need for this high powered meeting in the first place.  The answer is there was no real reason for it.  You can tell this by the length of the meeting.  Did Bush really think that the people in that room would somehow fix all that ails this nations economy in one hour long meeting?  Of course not, but I'm sure that he and other Republican leaders thought that it would be a great opportunity for McCain to look like a take charge kinda guy.  Please!!  That Meeting was all about showmanship.  But now McCain is in a tough spot.  He has to decide weather or not to side with this bill when many conservative GOP members are not ready to sign on.  If he can't get members of his own party to go along with it, how is he gonna get Russia to go along with Missile Defense?  And since he made it seem like the legislative branch of our government can't function without him, all eyes are now on him.  Your move Senator.

Now I hope the fact that there's no deal on the bailout won't spark a sale-off on the market tomorrow.  The last thing we need is a crash on a friday that would give way to a crash in world markets over the weekend.  We all know that the market's current behavior is based on speculation and rumors about this bill.  Any word that it won't pass won't be good at all.  But if the get something passed by Monday, we might be able to see a rebound.  who knows where this thing is going from here.  I guess we should Pray for the best but prepare for the worse.

So Many Zeros...

Ok, so I just watched Bush read what his speech writers told him to say to us so he would sound like a leader, and after that I started wondering: WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THIS!!  I mean really, what is going on with our government?   I understand the need for this $700B bail out, I really do.  But why is it needed by Friday? Bear Sterns Fails almost 6 months ago and no one did a thing.  Even then there was talk of other investment banks failing as well and still nothing was done.  You would think there would have been a few people who got together and come up with some sort of fix, or at least start talking about a fix.  Nothing!  Everyone goes about the norm with the mindset that "they brought it on themselves".  Not one hearing on Capitol Hill, not one bipartisan panel to look into this or anything.  Just a Government bail out for Bear Sterns that we didn't think much of.  Then IndyMac blows up, one of the largest mortgage lenders in America.  The Fed takes it over, and again we all go about our daily lives.  Again, no one inside the Beltway says anything.  I guess they thought that everything was cool.  It might hurt a few people a little, but it's just a "market correction" and we'd all be high rolling again in a few months.  Last week, some of the most prestigious names on Wall St go down, in flames.   Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG, a small crash follows and here we are.  With all the PhD's and MBA's and big brains in the finical sector, not one person who could do anything about this saw it coming?  Really?!?

Now that all of this has gone down, I guess the government decides now is the time to act, but why in one week?  The Bush Administration writes a 3 page letter asking Congress for $700,000,000,000 and expects it to pass through both chambers of Congress in one week?  I mean 3 pages! That's all they thought it would take?!?  Maybe it's just me, but I'm guessing 3 pages can't even begin to explain what to do with that kind of money.  I tell you, I just don't know what to say.  I find myself shaking my head in amazement and wonder throughout the day just thinking about this.  All of a sudden after this market turmoil going on for the better part of this year I find it hard to believe that this is do or die time.  At first I was thinking it wasn't needed overnight, but now that the bailout has been so over hyped, not passing the bill would lead to a crash.  It would become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and I'm one of the believers that not passing it would lead to Great Depression II.  With that said it has to pass, I just hope it has the proper oversight, accountability, and CEO compensation caps that many Americans are looking for.  I just hope that Congress and the Administration get it right this time.  But given Washington's recent track record on effectiveness and competence,  May God help us all!!
